Who ICANotes is best for
ICANotes is an EHR for mental and behavioral health clinicians, including therapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and addiction specialists, in solo, group and integrated care practices. Charting uses selection-based templates rather than free typing, and prices are published by clinician type.
Best for
- Solo therapists and counselors who want structured notes and treatment plans at a low monthly cost
- Psychiatry practices that need e-prescribing, EPCS and PDMP checks inside the note
- Small groups mixing prescribers and non-prescribers on one system
- Part-time clinicians, who get cheaper plans with monthly note caps
Not ideal for
- Medical or multi-specialty practices, since it is behavioral health only
- Residential treatment programs that need facility workflows

As of October 2026, the ICANotes+ pricing page lists monthly prices per clinician:
- Full-time: Notes Only $55 (non-prescribers, unlimited notes), Non-Prescribing $75, Prescribing $213
- Part-time: Notes Only $35 (60 notes a month), Non-Prescribing $45 (60 notes), Prescribing $138 (100 notes)
Non-Prescribing adds scheduling, reminders, messaging, the client portal, billing tools and reporting to Notes Only. Prescribing adds e-prescribing and lab ordering, and carries a $99 activation fee. Add-ons are telehealth ($20 per user per month), AI Scribe ($49 per user per month) and non-clinical users (first free, then $25 each). Text reminders, claims and statements are quoted. Plans need a 3-month commitment, then can be cancelled with 15 days' notice. ICANotes Classic has separate pricing.

HIPAA, security and integrations
ICANotes states it is HIPAA compliant and offers a business associate agreement (BAA) to all customers. It lists encrypted transmission and storage, role-based access, session timeouts, audit logging and cloud hosting, and it is ONC Cures certified; it says its EPCS implementation meets DEA 21 CFR Part 1311. It does not publish a SOC 2 report, HITRUST certification or its hosting provider. The vendor says AI Scribe audio is not stored centrally.
The integrations page names 18 labs (including LabCorp, Quest and Millennium), six clearinghouses (Availity, Waystar, ClaimMD, Ability, Emdeon and Inmediata) and HealthInfoNet, Ellkay and AllMeds for data exchange. A FHIR API is also offered.
