Who The SSI Group is best for
SSI (founded in 1988) sells clearinghouse, claims management and revenue cycle analytics software, plus EDI services for health plans. Its own site lists hospitals and health systems, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities and health plans as customers. It is software, not an outsourced billing service, so you still need an in-house or contracted billing team.
Best for
- Hospitals and health systems that need institutional (837I) and professional (837P) claim scrubbing at volume
- Multi-location or specialty physician groups with an in-house billing team that wants payer-specific edits and denial analytics
- Organizations already on an enterprise EHR that need a clearinghouse layer between the EHR and payers
- Health plans that need EDI operations support
Not ideal for
- Solo or very small practices that want a simple, published per-claim or monthly price
- Practices looking for an all-in-one EHR and billing system or a full-service billing company
- Teams that want to self-serve a free trial before talking to sales
The SSI Group pros and cons
Pros
- Claims Director applies a library of industry, payer and provider-level edits before submission, according to SSI
- Products cover the core EDI workflow: eligibility, claims submission, claim status, remittance, electronic attachments and prior authorization
- Broad product range on one platform: eligibility, prior authorization, denial management, remittance and analytics
- CAQH CORE certified for eligibility, claim status, payment and remittance, and prior authorization infrastructure, according to CAQH
- Long track record (since 1988) with a hospital-heavy customer base
- Serves both providers and payers, which helps with payer connectivity
Cons
- No public pricing; every deal is quoted
- Product depth and positioning are geared to hospitals and large groups rather than independent practices
- Software only, so it does not replace billing staff
- Few independent user reviews are available for small-practice use cases
- Many modules to choose from, which can make scoping and implementation slower
The SSI Group pricing
As of 2026, SSI does not publish pricing. Its website routes buyers to a Build My Plan tool, a demo request or a sales contact. For clearinghouse and RCM software of this type, pricing usually depends on claim volume, the modules you license (for example claims, eligibility, remittance, analytics), the number of facilities or billing entities, EHR integration work and contract length. Ask for per-transaction rates, implementation fees and minimum terms in writing.

HIPAA, security and integrations
SSI publishes a HIPAA page, but its public pages do not describe specific safeguards, hosting, business associate agreements, or SOC 2 or HITRUST certification. CAQH reported in 2020 that SSI was CAQH CORE certified for prior authorization infrastructure, after earlier certifications for eligibility and benefits, claim status, and payment and remittance. SSI says it connects with EHRs, ERPs and third-party systems, and its Claims Director FAQ names Epic, MEDITECH and Oracle Health as supported EHRs.
