Key differences
Pricing transparency
AdvancedMD publishes ranges by specialty: $429 to $1,070 per provider a month for medical specialties, $130 to $399 for mental health, $399 for physical medicine and addiction medicine. A provider is a mid-level clinician or above. Setup fees run from free to $1,000 for smaller practices, and data migration tiers cost $800 to $2,000. Tebra does not publish prices. It licenses per prescribing provider (MD, DO, NP or PA), gives non-clinical staff unlimited access, and says providers billing 100 claims or fewer a month may qualify for lower-tier pricing. Tebra lists a few compliance fees: about $75 per provider one time for EPCS setup, and $500 per facility for PDMP integration plus about $50 per user a year.
Bundles and modules
Tebra's pricing page shows five packages. EHR Starter covers charting, e-prescribing, labs and MIPS. Billing Starter covers practice management and billing. EHR+ combines the EHR, billing and telehealth. Patient Experience + Marketing is a separate package for online scheduling, custom reminders, reviews, web profiles and Google Business Profile management, and All in One includes everything. AdvancedMD sells modules that you combine, and says bundling EHR, practice management and patient engagement can save up to 40% compared with buying them separately. AdvancedMD's encounter pricing, $0.87 to $2.17 per claim, can suit low-volume or part-time providers.
Billing and revenue cycle options
Both serve practices and billing companies. AdvancedMD offers three routes: run billing in-house on its software, work with one of the independent billing companies that use AdvancedMD, or hand over revenue cycle management to AdvancedMD at 4% to 8% of collections, which includes the core software at no extra charge. Tebra offers claims, eligibility checks and patient payments in its billing packages, and its iOS app description lists a Tebra Managed Billing (RCM) module. Tebra does not publish RCM pricing.
AI tools and specialty depth
Tebra includes AI Note Assist for charting and lists AI tools for review replies and patient billing. AdvancedMD sells AI tools as an add-on at $100 per provider a month for unlimited encounters, or $0.99 per encounter. For behavioral health, AdvancedMD's mental health edition has DSM-5-based note options, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 assessments through its kiosk, group sessions and EPCS. Its self-service AdvancedMD Now edition costs $130 per provider a month with a 30-day trial for practices of one to three providers. Tebra serves mental health practices too but publishes less specialty detail.
